Kensington Townhouse

The Brief:

Create interiors with a classic-contemporary vibe and a touch of film star glamour. Worked with Jo Cowen Architects during full strip-out and reconfiguration of internal space

The Location:

A listed Georgian townhouse on a quiet street in South Kensington

The Client:

A family of four

GD&L Design:

We reinstated period features, selecting marbles and metals to complement the original style of the property. The form and proportion of the Georgian architecture, the natural light and gorgeous period detailing were the stars of the show. In this project we created visual interest with the hard design rather than the soft furnishings. We played with the intersection of shapes and geometry in the joinery, lighting and statement rugs rather than adding pattern via fabrics and wallpapers which we love to but wasn’t appropriate for this property or client.

We also worked with Stefano Marinaz Landscapes to create a beautiful outdoor space that felt like an extra room to the rear of the property.
